Joseph's Project - Bacteria

 

We bought this neat bacteria growing kit from Steve Spangler Science. It came with everything needed to collect samples from six different sources to grow bacteria. Just what Joseph needed. :)

Joseph decided to collect samples from:

1. Front door knob

2. His own hands

















3. Bathroom sink
(oops, no picture!)

4. His mouth

















5. His mouth, after brushing his teeth

6. The Wii remote

His goal was to see which one of these grew the most bacteria. He carefully put each sample in a petri dish.

We came back a week later to see what had grown. It was gross, of course. But some were grosser than others. Here is what he found grew the grossest bacteria, in order:

1. Mouth
2. Front door knob
3. Wii remote
4. Hands
5. Bathroom sink
6. Mouth, after brushing
